There are milestones in people's lives that make a moment of understanding, becoming a legal adult, graduating college, being able to rent a car, being accepted to higher education. It is at these moments, when we are young that we expect to be gifted the deeper understanding we believe "grown ups" to have. Now have gone through all of these milestones I find myself realizing the myth of the grown up to be just that, a myth.
Within my work uncanny characters populate a world that exists in a realm of understanding somewhere between childhood and adulthood, fantasy and reality, naivety and understanding. Working with narrative motifs within this limbo, I explore ideas such as life and death, the banality of everyday life, and spirituality but each theme is expressed through a lens of adolescence.
